Oldies and Beardies

I thought I'd finally pay some attention to my poor old neglected blog and post some stuff I've been working on.

I've been practicing my scratch-board in preparation for a large piece I plan on making.
I'm not sure about that weird Batman.

..And tracing shapes from national geographic.

Zach G. and Bears

Here's a drawing of a still from Bored to Death, and some little design I made in my star trek notebook. I might want to do a big, really complex version of this guy.

Merry Christmas Bacteriophage

Here's another little painting I made. This time it's a bacteriophage virus which is, according to wikipedia, one of the most common biological entities on earth. I like the little spider body and d20 head.

I'm back

It looks like I inadvertently made some goosebumps fan art this time. I am, of course, referring to this one:

Also: I really like this guy:

Halloween type stuff..

A little late I guess. I was trying to think of Halloween stuff to use to decorate my house. I also had the soundtrack to "The Day the Earth Stood Still" playing out the window. It turns out only like 3 kids showed up.

Kate Bush Birthday

I made this card for my sister's birthday. It's Kate Bush in the video for "Babooshka".
My sister, Emily, has a blog called Garbage Babes. You better take a look.

Ghost Dwarf

I'm back. And I made a little painting. Here it is.

I also have a bunch of scrappy type drawings from camping that I might post...

Going Camping

Not much to post... except maybe for this guy:

I'm going camping for a few weeks so won't put anything up until I get back on August 30th. I hope to do a bunch of drawing while I'm in the woods and less distracted.

Also: look what I found on the sidewalk the other day:

Needless to say it made my day.

Scraps

Nothing new because I've been busy with summer school for the past few weeks. I have a few little drawings I can scan later on tonight..

My brother is getting me to make the cover for a 7" he has coming out with his band Watermelon (Formerly Cat Attack). a friend of mine Sam Buss from Koban wants me to make the cover art for their 7" as well. So I have a couple of projects on the way.

Also: I'm off to What The Heck Fest this weekend in Anacortes, Washington.

Clouds Painting

This is another project I did for art 12. We were supposed to express an emotion through a painting that was at least 2/3 clouds. I had this idea and I thought it fit the project fairly well. It took forever to do all those little bricks, holy shit.

Some collages

I haven't posted in a while, but I plan to finish a project every month for my portfolio and I'll post my various doodles and stuff. I just graduated from highschool so here's a couple of my collage projects from art class.
The assignment with this one was to express a form of intangible beauty. I chose to use images that express the beauty found in human relationships.

This was a radial balance assignment. I went totally overboard and spent like, half the semester on it. It's a photo because it was too big to scan, so there is a bit of glare.

Pakistan (incomplete)

This drawing was for an assignment where we were to use research to depict a "cultural landscape" of Pakistan. I did this rough draft in pen, scanned it and played with the colors on photoshop until I found a color scheme I liked. I will take a photo of the finished painting and post it along with a couple of my other larger projects in the near future.

UPDATE: I handed in this painting at the end of the school year in a half-finished state. I am not really happy with the result so I don't think I'll bother posting it. Maybe one day I'll finish it but I think I if I did it would be in pen, like the above picture.

Mud Daubers and Obese Frog Bastards

For this art 12 assignment I was asked to draw a creature based on a word I didn't know. I chose "mud dauber". I tried to draw some gross, obese swamp dwelling little guys, and kind of went off in a Jabba the Hutt direction. I like the Ludwig Von Koopa one the best.

In reality, a mud dauber is a wasp which builds its nest from mud.
